I remember everyone told me the wedding dress would cost at least $600, but would be more like $800 – and that would be a great deal. Not for me it wouldn’t! I had set aside $300 to spend on the dress.

As she’s trying it on, the rest of us continued browsing the store. The next thing I know, the entire store is silent and I look around to see my daughter standing on the pedestal surrounded by mirrors. She looked like an angel. Then all the “oohs” and “aahs” started, followed by the comments. “That’s your dress young lady” was the comment of a complete stranger sitting close by. Then my mom, Grandma Judy, asked what the price was. No one knew, so she reached for the tag and read aloud, $299. All I could say was God is good!

Don’t give in to the nay-sayers! You can do a backyard wedding and save a bundle. And, it will be an event to remember for all involved.
