The Wanna Be Bride – Part 17
“Bridal Fair – where your hopes and dreams become a reality,” blaired from the radio commercials for the past month. Well, if that’s the truth, I better go check this thing out. So on a dreary and cold early January day my mother, me, my little sister and our little cousin set out, ready to be amazed. After an hour in line – outside I might add – in the cold, we were finally ushered into the warm convention center and up the escalator, following the many brides to be ahead of me.
As we rounded the corner, there it was! All my hopes and dreams in one place – or so they preached. I was so excited to get as much stuff as I could – bags, fliers, magazines, booklets, business cards - that I went a little crazy. I started filling out cards for contests and things that I had no idea what they were about. I’ll probably get so many calls over the next week I’ll regret ever going, but it was so much fun, and I was wrapped up in the moment. I talked to vendors, looked at ice sculptures, touched and drooled over $1,000 dresses, laughed with other brides, and even got to see a 45 minute fashion show. I can’t begin to tell you how that went! The show was well written and not boring in the least – very entertaining!
To keep me sane though, bring in the mother. Though she was very encouraging she was also very grounded. There were many, “No. No. We can’t have that,” comments. She later said it’s not that I can’t have that, it’s just the money factor and if I want it, we must try and do it ourselves. Okay, I said, fair enough.
I still have to go through everything I brought home. Looking at all the dresses made me even more excited to start trying them all on! There are so many styles to go through. Although the $1,000 dresses far exceed my spending limit, I’m sure we can come up with lots of others that I will think are just as good!
Till next time… Bride To Be!
