The Wanna Be Bride – Part 19
We walked into David’s Bridal at 11am sharp on a sunny Thursday. The receptionist greeted us warmly, asked us our appointment name, and motioned for one of the girls, Kami, to come help us. Kami asked a few questions about what I wanted and if we were working on the bridesmaids dresses today too.
With that information she turned on her heal, summoned us to follow and took us to a section of the fitting rooms in the corner of the store. In a few minutes she had enough chairs set up for my panel of woman. They all wondered around looking at things while I and Kami walked the aisle of wedding dresses picking out those I wanted to try. With about seven in hand we all met back at the fitting room.
I was sent into the fitting room with a bra-corset top and a slip to put on. With that done the wedding dresses were brought in and the fun began. I had brought a David’s Bridal book with me, pages of dresses tagged that I wanted to try on. The first dress Kami had me try on was one that was similar to the dresses in the book. This particular dress was from a line they tried to bring into the store but it didn’t have much success. So… all the dresses in the line were on clearance. I slipped into it and then Kami did her magic.
She pulled, fluffed, and pinned. The dress was too big so lots of pinning was in order. With everything in place she opened the dressing room and I scooted onto the round platform, turned, and looked at myself in the mirror. I loved the dress. It was simple like I wanted, with lots of movement and gathering in the fabric. It was beautiful. The girls liked it too. Great! Now on to the next one.
Out of all the ones I tried the first dress and the third were the favorites. It was so tough choosing. I tried them both on again about three times. Poor Kami was so understanding and patient, as were my family and friends. After much thinking I decided I liked the first dress more. Once I was sure that the dress was ‘the one,’ the seamstress rushed out and started pinning in the sides and making the bustle.
While I was being pinned, one of my bridesmaids was trying on the dresses I had chosen for the girls. The first two were okay, but the third one was the charm. It was exactly what I had pictured and most of all, after three of my girls had tried it on, they all felt comfortable in it.
What a productive trip. I completely recommend David’s Bridal. I got my dress on clearance, plus more off because of a sale. The bridesmaid’s dresses were very reasonable and because the wedding dress was purchased there all my girls got $20 off their purchases. I got ten percent off all the accessories to my dress, and I walked away with several more coupons for the mothers of the wedding party, and deals on tuxedo rentals too. Completely satisfied with the trip. The next time I see my dress will be the middle of March when I try it on after it’s been fitted. I can’t wait!
