Bricks….

For the next four days I would like to invite you to a series of blog posts on “Setting The Stage.”  What will your stage need? Are there things you need to purchase, build or construct so things will be ready for the performance? I’ve gathered these posts to share in hopes of getting your creative backyard wedding ideas flowing. Be sure and check back each day for a new idea.

p5160012p5160011My mother called today and said she found free bricks! I have been looking for some because we line the flower beds with them. It is very inexpensive, especially when the bricks are given to you.

I will have to clean them a bit before I lay them out; they still have morter from their last use. If these could talk,  I bet they would have a story to tell. That is another reason I like used bricks, they have personality.  They look a bit old and rugged and go with our country theme.

We hope to have a wedding facility on our property within the next two years. With this in mind, there are a lot of projects that need to get done. We started on a new area this spring. It was a mass of weeds and tree stumps. We dug up the stumps and made new flower beds around a few trees where it would be impossible to mow.

The ladies at my husbands office like to give him ferns and hostas from their yard and we love it!  There are so many things you can do inexpensively if you just put the word out. The ferns will look pretty pitiful this year, but next, they will be beautiful.

I know most of you are not planning a wedding facility in your backyard. I also know that any wedding at home will have it’s yard challenges. Take a good look around; where will your guests sit? Where will the food tables be? Will there be a place for dancing? How will you make these areas look inviting? What projects will you need to tackle.

You might be pleasantly surprised at what treasures your friends and family will come up with; but you will need to let them know what you are looking for.

Seeking more bricks…..Teri
