Gifts for Groomsmen

We’ve been getting the Sunday newspaper since Christmas when my mother in-law gave it to us for our gift. My husband does not like paying for the paper because, in his opinion, it’s slanted. It has been nice though for cutting out coupons and of course if it’s here we do read it or at least I scan it to see if anything interesting catches my eye. On this particular Sunday something did.
The title read, “ Take a swing at a great gift,” I decided to read on. It talks about the groom and his groomsman getting a personalized bat commemorating the special wedding day. It would have the grooms and brides name on it along with the groomsmans’ name engraved on it; making it a personal and thoughtful gift. It sounds like you could even get personally signed baseballs.
Frankly, I liked the idea. What do the guys usually get? Something to use for alcoholic beverages or pocket knives. There is nothing wrong with these, but let’s shake it up a bit.
I was thinking we could even get more creative and have a real wedding party/family baseball game at the rehearsal dinner. This sounds like a blast! I know…we could even get monogrammed baseball caps for everyone. OK, maybe not everyone. I suppose cost would start to become an issue; caps just for the bride and her bridesmaids?
My son Jaryd’s little league baseball team just took the championship. He had so much fun and so did we. Seeing those seven to ten year old boys improve their skills each game was amazing. Am I reminiscing here? Well, I bet all those guys would be too. Who doesn’t have a childhood baseball or sports story to tell?
Personalized baseball caps, monogrammed baseball bats and a big game; I can hardly wait till my next daughter gets married. I wonder if the groom and bride will like my idea. I’ll just have to wait and see.
Waiting patiently….Teri
