Things That Keep Me Sane – True Sanity

This is a recap of my three part series on Things That Keep Me Sane. If you didn’t catch the other’s here are the links:

Things that Keep Me Sane – Turbo Jam/Walking

Well, I have shared some things that help keep me sane (Teri’s Blended Mocha, Super Mom Vitamins, and TurboJam/Walking) but I would be lying if I didn’t tell you what really and truly keeps me sane. If I didn’t have a personal relationship with my Jesus all would be lost.

I’ll be heading out the door soon with my family as we go to worship at Calvary Chapel in town. It will be an extra special day for me because all my children will be there.  With their crazy work schedules it rarely works out for us all to be together.

Jesus Christ has seen me through so many of  life’s ups and downs I can not keep track. He is my joy when I am sad, and He is my strength when I just can’t go any further. When things just get too hard and seem hopeless, I’m so glad He listens and He is there. It’s hard to put into words how much I need and depend on my Jesus. Some of you will understand and my hope is that those of you who don’t understand will someday and very soon. I believe real peace and sanity can come only from knowing Jesus.

Sane? A work in progress… Teri :-

Things That Keep Me Sane – Teri’s Blended Mocha

This is the first in a three part series on Things That Keep Me Sane.

During our wedding adventure there were a few things I did to help keep my sanity. Sanity is most important in a wedding situation, as I’m sure you would agree. I was basically in charge and I didn’t want to be biting everyone’s head off or be completely unapproachable. I needed some way to keep my energy up because I had a lot to do and I wanted to feel good while getting it all done.

In this three part series, I’m going to share what I did and still do, to keep my energy up and my pace going strong. I know this may seem strange, but I’m going to talk about vitamins, exercise, and coffee. I am in no way telling you what you should do, or suggesting that you need to do what I do. I’m sure most of you have some kind of routine you follow. But I love my life and want to be able to keep on keeping on! Anyway these are the things that keep me going. Would love to hear what helps keep you sane.

Our favorite drink around here is the blended mocha. We enjoy this yummy drink almost daily – even in the winter. It brings a smile to our face and helps us get through the afternoon “want to take a nap” time (but I still get the nap sometimes anyway!:- ). We make them in my Bosch blender here at the house.

We purchase our mocha supplies at Costco, our local warehouse store. The Frappe Freeze Mocha Mix (2.43 lbs) is about  $ 8.00 and the flavored syrups (32 oz) are about $3.95 each. The supplies usually last us a long time; we get enough to last about two weeks.

Making them ourselves saves us lots of money as opposed to buying them from the local coffee shop, so it’s easier on the budget. And really… ours taste better and we can have bigger ones than we’d have otherwise!

 Teri’s Blended Mocha

6 Cup Blender-fill with ice

1/3 Cup Vanilla Coffee Syrup

1/3 Cup Hazelnut Coffee Syrup

5 -6 Scoops Mocha Frappe Coffee Mix

Add two shots of espresso coffee made with 2/3 cup water.

Pour coffe shots over the ice mixture in the blender and blend until smooth. Makes 2 – 22 0z. glasses  or 6 cups.

This makes a large amount. We usually serve 2 - 5 people, depending on how many people are at home at the time. It’s very easy to make a smaller amount if you don’t want as much.
