PB030143PB030146I really did love my bridal hat! And in the picture directly above, I am with my maid-of-honor, best horseback riding partner, and childhood best friend forever.

Oh my, so much has happened in 27 years of marriage. It’s been an adventure for sure. Not always easy, but oh so worth it.

We had our wedding reception in the basement of the Ellisford Church (located in north-central Washington State). I didn’t pick out my wedding cake per-se. I just let my grandma know how many people would be there. I did take the very top tier cake and put it in my freezer. I got it out for our first anniversary so we could remember the day. YUCK! Do you know anyone who has done this and had it taste good?

Oh, and see the glasses in the picture featuring our cake. They were filled with slush, our favorite special occasion drink. It is also a grandma Appel special. I’ll have to get that receipe on my website. It’s exceptional!

My Wedding Pictures – Our Wedding Invitation

My Wedding Pictures

The picture in this post is of my wedding invitation. I didn’t fold the one shown because I keep it in my wedding album. But I used the plain piece of white paper in the picture to show how we did fold our invitations.

As you can see, it was very cost effective. One piece of  8 1/2  x 11 paper folded over and closed with a sticker.  If I remember correctly, my parents had them printed at a local print shop and then we just brought them home to fold, attach the sticker, and address. I don’t know why you couldn’t have a friend do one up and then make copy’s. I’m sure copy machines are better quility now than 27 years ago.

Most invitations seem to have more information on them or included with them. An invitation like mine would still work if you referred people to a web site to get more information. You will want to let people know where you are registered. You might also want to share hotel information and directions to your event.

I know The Knot wedding magazine advertises www.Weddingpages.com where you can create a wedding web page  for your wedding. If you try out this web site, I would love to here how it worked for you.

This is the beginning of a four part series on – My Wedding Pictures.

There have been a few people that requested to see more of my 27 year old wedding pictures after viewing my video.

I had to take pictures of pictures so they seem to be a bit distorted.

Over the years, it seems that weddings have become less formal, at least at the ones I have attended. I actually like that trend. Brides are personalizing things which makes for a more relaxing and fun event.

The thing I notice in this picture is that my hair was dark brown. It’s only been 27 years and I am mostly white now. My husband Les is starting to gray in the temple area but he shaves all his hair off every weekend so no one sees it.

I know most of those bridesmaids at least get their hair highlighted if not full blown colored. I choose to not color, it’s a hassle and expense to me. I rather buy danglie earrings, a new plant for the garden or pay for a learning course on the internet. To each his own, right?
